Hack your brain: Unlocking your true potential and bringing your best performance

Content

Using your full potential, bringing a peak performance and working agile in a digital world?! Is this even possible? Neuroscience provides us with answers. In this two-day workshop, by Dr Karolien Notebaert (The Science and Leadership Academy), participants will receive an insight in how the brain can increase the use of its potential in a realistic way. Based on scientific studies, they will learn how the brain processes information, how identity is anchored in the brain and what a healthy performance really means. Participants will be taught powerful strategies that can lead to a significant increase of cognitive performance, mental strength and general life quality. All strategies can easily be implemented in daily life.

The workshop guides participants to find their low-energy-path, the path in life where one can excel with the least energy use or, in the best case, energy gain. To this purpose, this workshops focuses on two crucial self-development capacities.
Firstly, participants learn how their own identity is anchored in their brain and how this influences their decisions, language and general behaviour.
Secondly, participants learn how to train their self-regulation capacity which enables them to bring a cognitive peak performance. Self-regulation has been found to be the most important predictor of success, both in private and professional life. A fresh perspective will be given on how self-regulation is anchored in our brain and how to use this strength to significantly boost performance and general well-being.

Learning outcomes

Attending this workshop will lead to:

  • improved self-knowledge and communication through new insights into how the brain processes information,
  • insight into the personal basic needs of the brain and how they can be fulfilled for a better performance,
  • understanding the neuroscience of decision making as the foundation for improved personal and professional decisions,
  • insight into the neurological foundations of personality and how to increase performance through the selection of tasks that fit personality best,
  • understanding and knowing how to practice self-regulation as a key to a higher (cognitive) performance.

Competences

An important part of preparing for any further professional step is becoming (more) aware of the competences you have developed and/or want to develop. In the current workshop, the following competences from the UHasselt competency overview are actively dealt with:

  • personal effectiveness:
    • self-development
    • responsiveness to change
    • stress management
  • interpersonal competences:
    • assertiveness
    • (self-)coaching
    • (self-)leadership

What others say

Simply said: one of the best doctoral schools I followed so far. Very interesting, interactive and educational training that is very well given by an expert in the field of neuroscience. You learn about how different parts of the brain work and how the interaction between them can make you reach your true potential.
(participant in 2023)
The training is really valuable for more than your professional life alone. It teaches you how to excel in life in general! The training can also be seen as the first stepping stones to expand your knowledge on how to become the best version of yourself.
